WHICH SPORTS ARE EXCLUDEd

If you want to add adventure or extreme sports to your policy, it can be added by customizing your policy under the Sports and Activities Optional Coverage option in the quoting platform.

First off, let’s talk about mountain sports and backcountry (which can be added to your policy) vs out-of-bounds

Backcountry means an area that is not marked, not patrolled and/or not cleared for avalanche dangers, but where public access is permitted. Backcountry is also known as slack-country, side-country and/or off-piste but does not include heli-skiing or cat-skiing. Again, this can be added to your policy and many other activities. bounds

On the other hand, Out of bounds is a permanent exclusion and is defined as any mountain area that: A) Has been closed off to public access; or B) Has been identified as “out-of-bounds” and/or can typically only be accessed by crossing a fenced, gated or roped-off area that has been marked as off-limits according to recommendations of safety authorities in the area. 

Aside from out-of-bounds snowsports, the following activities are permanently excluded and cannot be added as an optional sports rider. Participating in, training or practicing for any of the following sports or activities:

Barrel racing, Bronc riding, Bull riding, Chariot racing, Chuckwagon racing, Harness racing, Rodeo bareback racing, Rodeo clowning, Rodeo team roping, Steer wrestling/chute dogging, Trick riding.
