Snowbirds & Seniors
Winter somewhere warm. Your coverage comes with you.
Your provincial plan pays only a fraction of a US hospital bill. Get up to $5 million in emergency medical for the whole winter, with coverage for stable pre-existing conditions.

Your winter
Pick the coverage that fits your season.
Most Canadian snowbirds are in their mid-60s and spend about four months away, mostly in Florida, Arizona, California and Texas, with Mexico growing fast.
A winter in the US
- Choose the Worldwide plan so the US is covered
- Cover every day you're away, door to door
- A higher deductible can lower your premium
Mexico, the Caribbean or overseas
- Not setting foot in the US? The Excluding USA plan costs less
- Connecting through a US airport? Choose Worldwide
- Mexico has its own 24/7 assistance numbers on your card
Multi Trip Annual
- One policy for the year, each trip up to the length you pick
- Pick a trip length that covers your longest stay
- Handy if you also take short trips through the year
Top up retiree or card benefits
- Retiree or credit-card plans often stop at 15–60 days
- Tick Top-Up and TuGo covers the remaining days
- Check your existing plan's age limits too
The example price is for one traveller, age 65, 120 days in the US, emergency medical only. Your price depends on your age, health answers, trip length, deductible and destination.

Worth adding when you quote
Options worth knowing about.
These show up on the quote screen. Here's when each one is worth it for a long winter away.
Deductible
The default is US$300. A higher deductible lowers your premium if you're comfortable paying the first part of a claim.
Top-Up
Already covered for the first part of your trip by a retiree or card plan? Top-Up covers the days after it ends.
Trip interruption
Covers the extra cost of getting home early if a covered emergency cuts your winter short.
Rental car protection
Renting for the season? Covers damage to or loss of the rental car.
Baggage
Covers belongings that are lost, stolen or damaged while you're away.
Sports & Activities
Golf, pickleball and hiking are already covered. Add this only for higher-risk activities like scuba diving.
Before you buy
Before you buy.
A few things to have straight before you quote.
- You're a Canadian resident covered by your provincial or territorial health plan for your whole trip.
- You're not travelling against a doctor's advice.
- Your medical conditions meet the stability rules on the questionnaire — any change in health or medication before you leave can affect your coverage.
Your quote, step by step
Every screen you'll see, in order.
Here's exactly what TuGo asks, and what to choose. Take your time with step 4 — it matters most.
- 1
Trip details
Your province, destination, departure and return dates and birthdate. Answer Yes to the US question if you'll be in or pass through the US.
- 2
Single trip or annual
Single Trip for one long winter. Multi Trip Annual if you'll take several trips this year — make sure the trip length you choose covers your longest one.
- 3
Pick your plan
Emergency Medical Worldwide for the US; Excluding USA if you'll never be there. Choose your deductible here too.
- 4
Medical questionnaire
Travellers 60 and over answer questions about heart conditions, stroke, blood pressure medication and recent changes before a price appears. Have your medication list handy.
Tip: Answer exactly. Any inaccurate answer adds a US$15,000 deductible to every claim. A change in medication or dosage can count as a change in your health — ask Sky or call us if you're unsure.
- 5
Add-ons
Tick Top-Up if another plan covers the first days, then add trip interruption, rental car or baggage if you want them.
- 6
